Meet some of our key personalities


Karen

Has been with CRT for several years and is the company chameleon – primarily she is our Office Administrator and often the first point of contact for our clients.
A multi talented member of the team she is also a First Aid at Work instructor/assessor, Chef and make up artist!

Background
Following her Biology degree Karen has developed many skills as a personal trainer, lifeguard and advanced first aider.

Hobbies
Running, keep fit, outdoor pursuits

Fun Fact
Despite being a dinky size 8 Karen is a former British Powerlifting Champion!

 

Russ
Is the Chief Instructor at CRT and is passionate about emergency medicine and education. He has a special interest in Wilderness medicine and trauma. He is responsible for staff training, writing courses and teaching. He has been described as at ‘the level of the top army instructors’

Background
After more than a decade as an army medic, reaching CMT 1 with BARTS/BATLS training Russ has a Degree in Law, a BTEC in Teaching in Lifelong Learning, City and Guilds 7302 and ASLS Train the Trainer certificate. He has travelled around the World and worked on several continents as an expedition medic.

Hobbies
Climbing, Mountaineering, Paddling and most outdoor activities.
Fun Fact
He drinks tea by the litre and his favourite quote is: “Some of the Worlds most incredible achievements have been made by people to stupid to know that they are impossible”

 

 

Wayne

Has taught and assessed at CRT for several years. He is very experienced in both medical and trauma care and as a highly respected instructor. He has a great sense of humour and approachable nature that enhances his role as an assessor.

Background
An army medic for over twenty years and spent time as an instructor at Defence Medical Services Training Centre. He has operated all over the World in a vast array of environments. He holds teaching qualifications and a C&G Diploma in Primary and Emergency Care.

Hobbies
Rugby, rugby, rugby

Fun Fact
Has a pet rabbit

 

Chris
Is a qualified CRT instructor and guest speaker generally found on our more advanced courses and Medical Student Events.

Background
Chris is a former army medic qualifying as CMT 1 with BARTS/BATLS training and has spent many years practicing emergency care around the World. He also has a Degree and Masters Degree in Geography.

Hobbies
Keep fit, shooting, outdoor sports

Fun Fact
Even though he’s in his 30′s Chris still owns his very own Abseil Action Man!

 

Roger
Though technically retired Roger has been involved with CRT for a number of years. His background in incident management and emergency planning on small and national scale adds an exciting facet to our skillbase. He is a first aid assessor and event first aider.

Background
After thirty years as a police office reaching the rank of Acting Superintendant Roger was responsible for instructing staff and involved in a number of commended, high profile operations. He has provided life saving care many times to members of the public.

Hobbies
Paddling, Paragliding, Fishing and Photography.

Fun Fact
Roger is on a learn to draw with charcoal course.

 

Phil
An instructor with CRT that is usually found on the more advanced courses.

Background
Phil is a military medic with a couple of recent tours to warm places under his belt. He is passionate about medicine and the crazy things that people do to themselves.

Hobbies
Running, travel and all sorts of keep fit.

Fun Fact
Phil is undertaking a part time Masters in emergency planning.

 

Casualty ActorA Whole Bunch of Casualties
One of our strongest appeals centres around the practical nature and realism of our medical courses. Our instructors have a knack of explaining anatomical and medical situations in a way that relates to everyday life and our willingness to provide intense practicals with casualty actors adds an entertaining and exciting twist. Nothing builds confidence like this team of lunatics.

Background
Various; our acting team consists of media and drama students, University Lecturers and all most people in between and ALL have training in first aid and ‘medical acting’ to ensure authenticity.

Hobbies
Getting wet, cold, sticky, prodded and poked in the name of education.

Fun Fact
They all want to be the ‘diabetic’ and get sweets fed to them!
