This course allows more time to really get to grips with your new skills, it also has more challenging simulations. Usually run for clubs and groups with specific interests we will be happy to tweak the syllabus to keep it highly relevant, however an open course with a mix of people, still allows us the time to cover and practise those skills that you feel are important to your chosen activity.
This course is ideal for mountain leaders, climbers, mountain bikers, paragliders, kayakers, fell runners and most other outdoor professionals or enthusiasts who are looking for a more extensive course or for more opportunity to develop first aid confidence. You can obtain the First Aid at Work qualification for this course as it meets and exceeds training and assessment requirements. It also meets the “+ Forestry” elements.
This course is particularly noted for its enhanced opportunity for casualty simulation with three additional simulations, including one-to-one simulation, as compared to the two-day UK Adventurer First Aid Course undertaken for most NGBs. The added casualty simulation will further first aid skill-building but also expand on the casualty management, evacuation and hand-over experience of the first aider. On this course, Catastrophic bleeding, Casualty Triage, Airway management, Wound management, and insect and animal bites are also discussed.
There is the option to cover medical gases, defibrillator, altitude sickness and other overseas expedition first aid considerations.
For those of you who have already done several two-day courses and need to requalify, this course will provide you extra challenges and cover new ground on areas that are usually not covered. The UK First Aid Plus is the next level!
